Ready to take your Control Unleashed skills on the road? Welcome to I CU in the Real World: Advancing Your Control Unleashed Skills! This class will build on previous CU classes, with a focus on bringing your skills into more challenging environments. Whether your goals are a calm, confident dog in the ring, walking your reactive dog down the street, or simply exiting the car peacefully, this class can get you there!
The class begins with a goal building exercise to help you plan out your focus for the next six weeks and help you stay on task. The exercise can either be put to pen and paper, or perhaps even more valuable, with a 3D approach. The class will also meet on Zoom (all students are invited) to participate in the exercise, led by Kim. This exercise has proven to be a great aid in guaranteeing progress by students in previous classes!
From there, included in this class is a recap of all CU skills, as well as plenty of individual lectures on how to broaden your dog’s repertoire of CU skills. A lot of work is put into combining the Give Me A Break Game and Look At That to help your dog with whatever triggers or distractions exist in their lives, as well as an introduction to LATTE (Look At That, Then Enrichment.) We’ll play around with pattern combinations such as arrival skill sets and exit routines, advance our behavior modification protocols like Requested Approach Training and Voluntary Sharing, and begin to take things on the road!
Students will have the opportunity to address challenges specific to their own dogs to work on throughout the 6 weeks. Occasionally zoom calls with Kim, that are open to all students (Gold, Silver, and Bronze) will help you keep on track. This class is ideal for any team who has already taken a previous CU class and is ready to bring their skills into the big wide world!
